Privacy Policy

How Beardlings LLC handles information collected through this website.

Effective date: August 26, 2026

Who we are

This website is operated by Beardlings LLC ("Beardlings", "we", "us"), a limited liability company formed in the State of Maryland, USA, and operating from California. You can reach us at beardling@beardlings.com, or by post at Beardlings LLC, 1014 S. Westlake Blvd #14-356, Westlake Village, CA 91361, USA.

What we collect

We collect a small amount of information automatically when you visit this site, through Google Analytics 4. This includes: pages viewed, the site or link that referred you, an approximate location — including your city — that Google works out from your IP address (Google says it discards the raw address after that and never links it to a user identifier), device and browser type, and time spent on pages. We do not ask you to create an account and we do not knowingly collect names, email addresses, or payment details through this website.

One page is an exception. The Riftorn: Battle Flanks page shows a signup page hosted by our email provider MailerLite. If you choose to enter your email address there, MailerLite receives it and we add you to our Riftorn mailing list — the Riftorn: Battle Flanks privacy policy explains what happens to it after that. You can also write to us at the address above; if you do, we receive your email address and whatever you write, we use it only to read and answer your message, we never add it to a mailing list, and you can ask us to delete the correspondence at any time.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets two cookies in your browser: _ga, which tells one visitor apart from another, and _ga_L52WT5DCX2, which keeps track of your session. Both last up to two years unless you clear them. They are only set after you click "Accept" on the consent banner shown on your first visit. If you click "Reject", or make no choice at all, neither cookie is set and nothing is sent to Google. You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page — if you switch to "Reject" after having accepted, we stop Google Analytics and delete those two cookies.

Separately, our web host adds a script of its own to every page on this site, which sets three cookies (_tccl_visitor, _tccl_visit and _scc_session) to measure server performance and traffic. To be clear about the limits of the choice above: these are set by the host before our own pages run, so the Accept/Reject banner does not control them. _tccl_visitor lasts about a year; the other two last only for your visit. We do not read them, they play no part in the analytics described above, and we have asked our host to switch them off. We will update this page if that changes. If you want to block them in the meantime, your browser's cookie settings or any content blocker will do it.

We also store your Accept or Reject choice in your browser under the name beardlings-analytics-consent, so we don't ask again on every page. It stays on your device and is never sent to us.

Do Not Track, and who else can see you

Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal. There is no agreed standard for what a website should do with one, and we do not act on it separately — the Accept/Reject banner is how you control analytics here, and Reject means nothing is sent to Google.

Our own analytics do not follow you around other websites. The _ga cookies belong to beardlings.com and no other site can read them, and the same is true of the host's cookies. There is one exception: the Riftorn: Battle Flanks page shows a page hosted by MailerLite, and that page loads Google reCAPTCHA and a YouTube video player. Those are run by companies that operate on many other websites and may be able to recognise your browser elsewhere. We receive nothing of that kind and we do not use it.

How we use it

We use analytics data only in aggregate, to understand which pages and games visitors are interested in and to improve the site. We do not use it to build advertising profiles and we do not sell it.

Who we share it with

Analytics data is processed on our behalf by Google LLC as part of the Google Analytics 4 service. Google may store and process this data in the United States and other countries where Google operates. You can review Google's practices at policies.google.com/privacy and at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. We also rely on our web hosting provider to serve the site, which receives your IP address in order to deliver the pages you request, keeps routine server logs, and runs the performance-monitoring script described under Cookies above.

How long we keep it

Google keeps the visit-level analytics data for the period set on our property — up to 14 months — and then deletes it automatically. The aggregate totals in Google's standard reports are not covered by that setting and stay available to us for longer; they are only counts and are not tied to any one visitor. Our web host keeps its routine server logs on its own rotation, which we do not control, and the host cookies described above stay in your browser until they expire or you clear them.

Your choices and rights

You can decline analytics using the consent banner, change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link in the footer, install a browser add-on such as the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or block cookies in your browser settings.

Where the law where you live requires us to have a legal basis for using your information, ours are these: your consent for the Google Analytics cookies, which is why nothing is set until you click "Accept", and our legitimate interest in running a working, secure website for the routine server logs our host keeps.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction that grants such rights, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict how we process it. To make such a request, email beardling@beardlings.com. If those laws apply to you, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk); in the EU, your national authority (listed at edpb.europa.eu). We would appreciate the chance to sort out any concern first, so please email us before you do.

Games and embedded content on this site

The Riftorn: Battle Flanks WebGL game at beardlings.com/battleflanks/ is covered by its own separate privacy policy at beardlings.com/privacy-policy/riftorn-privacy. When you use that game, information handled by the game itself is governed by that policy, not this one. This policy still applies to your visit to the site's pages that lead you there.

The Riftorn: Battle Flanks page is barely our page at all: almost all of it is a page hosted by our email provider MailerLite, shown inside ours. It loads as soon as you open the page, before and regardless of the Accept/Reject banner, and it brings its own third-party content with it — a Google reCAPTCHA on the signup form and a YouTube video player — each of which may set cookies we do not control. If you enter your email address there, MailerLite handles it and adds you to our Riftorn mailing list; the Riftorn: Battle Flanks privacy policy covers what happens next.

Children

This website is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The mailing list signup on the Riftorn: Battle Flanks page is offered only to people aged 16 or over. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Effective date" above and add a short note saying what changed.

Governing law

Beardlings LLC is formed in Maryland and operates from California. This policy is governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, where we conduct our business, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Nothing here limits rights you may have under the law of the place where you live.
